Why We Shouldn’t Be Discouraged

Have you ever been discouraged? Felt like everything you did or tried to do failed so you might as well give up?

Or maybe you feel like you’ve worked and worked and just never get anywhere. Everyone else seems to find advancement, promotion, success in general, and you just seem to find more work.

Yeah. Me too.

And sometimes I get discouraged. I forget why I do the things I do. I think about quitting it all. Stopping. Right in my tracks.

It won’t matter. My tracks aren’t leading anywhere anyway.

But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you, yes, things that accompany salvation, though we speak in this manner. For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Hebrews 6:9:12

God will not forget the work and love I have shown in His name toward his saints. Regardless of the reward I see here and now, God has not forgotten or overlooked my efforts.

I should not give up hope until He calls me home. He has a plan to use me, and He will not forget what I’ve accomplished towards that plan. I should not grow tired or lazy, but should persevere through faith and patience towards His promises.

The world may not recognize nor reward my efforts. Is it really the world’s recognition I’m after?

No, it’s God’s approval I’m after. Not this world’s.

Friends, God is not slack in keeping His promises. He will not forget what we have done for Him.

Be encouraged! God will not forget you!
