Whispers of Love

He loves me. He loves me not. He loves me. He loves me not. He loves me.

This month’s NaBloPoMo theme is Love and Sex. I probably won’t stick to the theme every day, but for many posts I will.

Today’s prompt asks, “When was the last time you said, ‘I love you.’?”

Hmmm. I’m not liking this question today.

Usually I could quickly tell you a time not very long ago, but now that I’m thinking about it, I don’t think I have yet today. Reminder to self: Tell hubby I love him ASAP. Apparently we’re both slacking today.

Hopefully you noticed that I’m not upset nor concerned over the lack of verbal love today.

We don’t need to play the “He/she love me/loves me not” game in our home. We make sure each other knows it daily.

We verbalize love pretty much EVERY time we talk on the phone. We say it when we part ways. We say it before we fall asleep at night. Hey, we’re even so crazy in love that we say it ESPECIALLY when we’re angry or annoyed.

Days like today, well, we haven’t talked on the phone. Haven’t texted much. The morning schedule was way out of whack. And it isn’t time to fall into bed yet.

But ask me if he loves me, and I know he does! Ask him the same and you’ll get some silly smart-aleck answer first like “Well, she better.”, but it will be followed with a grin and an affirmative answer.

Even when life gets in the way of the word, especially when life gets in the way, love is whispered loudly through our actions.

To answer the question honestly, the last time I SAID it was yesterday afternoon, but the last time I lived it was seconds ago.

I sang this in our wedding. Love whispers. It doesn’t shout. Silence is not uncomfortable when shared with a soulmate.
