Proclaim Boldly: Peter Tells It Like It Is

The Holy Spirit had descended in a Rushing Mighty Wind, and the crowd Reacted which allowed us to witness a Spirit of Change in Peter. In Peter’s first bold sermon, we see that prophecy is being fulfilled and ALL Can Be Drenched in the Spirit.

Peter could have stopped there. He could have been satisfied that he had explained what the crowed had just seen. But he continued his sermon.

“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know–Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; who God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it. For David says concerning Him: ‘I foresaw the Lord always before my face, For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken. Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad; Moreover my flesh will also rest in hope. For You will not leave my soul in Hades, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.’ Acts 2:22-28

Peter goes straight from the Old Testament prophecy of Joel to the saving work of Jesus Christ.

He reminds them about the Jesus they knew. The Jesus they crucified. The Jesus God resurrected because it wasn’t possible that death could hold Him.

Peter didn’t water down the truth. He spoke boldly and told it like it was.

Peter was filled with the Spirit and he was no longer worried about his own safety. He was changed by the Spirit.

One can’t be filled with the Spirit and remain the same.

Peter went on to share David’s prophecy regarding Jesus as it had also come true and now proved God’s children had reason to be glad and celebrate!

My flesh will also rest in hope.

Those who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved and their soul will not reside in Hell! They will understand the ways of life and be filled with joy!

When we experience the Holy Spirit, we will be changed. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we will be saved, we will have life eternal, and we will be filled with joy!

Sisters and brothers, listen up! Jesus has already paid the price. He has already sent the Comforter. Accept His grace, be changed, and experience joy like you’ve never experienced joy before! Even in the midst of doing things boldly that you never thought you’d have the strength to do!
