Only 1 Love Never Fails
This past week I talked to several people who have been let down, disappointed, by other people who should have been positive influences in their lives. People who not only should have poured love into their lives at some of the toughest times of theirs, but who didn’t even bother to call or show up.
My heart broke as I listened to their stories. I could empathize, and yet in one of the stories I knew I was one of the people who should have called or showed up and didn’t.
Have you, too, been let down by those in your life who should be your lifeline in the darkest hours? Have you felt like your friends and family don’t really love or care for you?
I think if we’re honest, we’ve all been there at one time or another.
As I was thinking about these various situations, the phrase, “You find out who your friends are” popped into my mind. I quickly followed that thought up with, “Or aren’t, in many cases.”
So what do you do when your life is crashing down around you and no one seems to notice, care, or bother to come to your rescue?
One thing is always constant.
The Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines ‘unfailing’ as: never changing or becoming weaker even in difficult times
: always providing enough of what is needed
What a beautiful picture that paints.
The Lord’s love never changes, never weakens in difficult times, and always provides exactly enough.
If I had to make a choice between love from man and love from God, which would I choose? Which would you choose?
One never fails. One is contingent on a lot of external factors.
Are we seeking love in all the wrong places? Are we expecting our family to love us in a way only the Lord can? Are we expecting our friends to love us in a way only the Lord can? Are we expecting our church family to love us in a way only our Lord can?
His love never fails. Human love does from time to time.
I’m so thankful that I can rely on His unfailing love.
