Nothing Without You
“Take my life…”
I wonder just how many times I’ve whispered those words in prayer. Giving myself to God as if I were a gift.
As I listened to Bebo Norman’s “Nothing Without You” for the first time in quite a while, I found myself worshipping. Walking into a time of quiet and reflection where God and I could communicate.
God, I give myself to You. I am nothing without You. Fill me with Your Spirit, and use me as You have created me to be used.
And I wondered just how many times I have said the same words to God. Felt the same revelation that I am simply a grain of sand, not anything special, except for the fact that He is within me and has placed me on this beach for this particular season.
Lord, empty me of me, so I can clearly see and reflect You.
I’m reminded of the military when I listen to this song. I’ve watched headstrong, strong-willed, individuals enter the military intending to set the world on its ear. And then I’ve listened to their stories of how basic training literally took them back to basic.
Stripped them down to nothing to build them up to more than they even knew they could be.
I have a feeling just like the armed services, when we join the Lord’s Army we need to be stripped down and built back up in Him.
