Not Too Good to Be True

Have you ever won tickets to an event through a radio contest or something similar? It’s such a blessing to win entrance to something you couldn’t normally afford to go to.

I remember several years ago I won tickets to a Christian concert at Six Flags. The tickets included entrance to the theme park and reserved seats (FRONT ROW) at the concert! Praise the Lord!!!

We had an amazing time even though it felt like it was 200 degrees out. It was worth it because it was free.

Or was it?

Six Flags is almost two hours from our home. That’s quite a bit of gas. Then we had to eat three meals times four people. I’m sure we also needed several drinks throughout the day due to the excessive heat, and even though it was several years ago I can pretty much guarantee we bought some frozen lemonades to help cool everyone down.

I doubt we came home without a CD or souvenir either.

So, even though our entrance to the park and concert was free, the entire event wasn’t free. In all reality, it was quite expensive.

Most of us were raised to believe that if something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. However, God offers us salvation for free and then offers us continued growth for free. There is no pyramid scheme or hidden charges. We can go as far as we want with God for free.

“Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance. Isaiah 55:1-2

Who gets this free experience?

Everyone who thirsts.

What do they get?

Everything they need for their soul to be satisfied.

What must they do in exchange?

Listen to God, eat what is good (Be choosy.), and delight in the abundance (Joy instead of complaining!).

Wow.

God is so good.

I don’t have to work for it. I don’t have to earn it. I just have to accept and praise Him for it!
