Caffeinating Calamity

If we were sharing coffee, I’d have to be honest and tell you I started without you. I’m ready for number two, which will really be numbers three and four because I made two the first go-round.

My week has been an exercise in stamina. Burning the candle at both ends? Not even close.

RibbonWick Outdoor Collection Candles

Perhaps the ribbon candle I saw at Cracker Barrel last weekend is a bit closer to the idea? Extend the burning ribbon out two inches on both sides, light both short ends of the container on fire, and finally light both long ends of the container on fire, and, yep, that should give you an idea of my week.

Perhaps a student telling me yesterday that my face was saying I was very angry might give you a hint.

I wasn’t angry at all. Not even upset. I was tired to the point of exhaustion. Sometimes that leads me to slap happy. Apparently this time it lead me to facial expressions that had my students terrified.

So, four cappuccinos on a Saturday morning just might be necessary, not an indulgence.

Has your week been one of thriving or surviving?

We’re at that 1/4 of the way through the year mark. How are your 2015 goals going? Have you made it to the 1/4 of the way mark towards them?

I’m happy to report I still know what mine are! I have even made some progress! Moved to a self-hosted blog finally, joined some blogging groups, being proactive in marketing myself, had an article published, promoting myself as a speaker, and accepting the risk of just putting myself out there in general. I don’t know if I’m 1/4 of the way there, but I’m absolutely focusing on my goals and getting there.

Progress.

AtoZ-BADGE [2015] - Life is Good

April starts next week, and with it comes Blogging from A-to-Z Challenge. Not only am I a participant this year, but I am also a Minion on S. L. Hennessy’s team. (Lauren blogs at Pensuasion. Be sure to check out her Superhero smack down during April!)

It isn’t too late for you to join the challenge. All you need to do is sign-up here, and then write a post based on the alphabet for every day except Sunday in April. The 1st is A, 2nd is B, 3rd C, etc. There are currently over 1400 blogs signed up to participate. Are YOU one of them? If so, leave your number on the list in my comments so I can find you!

I posted my theme reveal with hundreds of other participants earlier this week. You can see my thought process here. I’d love to get your feedback!

And, along with building community, #ThursdayTheologyBlogs is live for a month this week. We are looking for a co-host for April, and a lot more people to link-up with us this week. Please join us in tweeting about it, sharing the posts on the page, and make sure to vote for your favorite post by clicking like!

As you can see, even without the hundreds of papers to grade at school, my life is busy, busy, busy! I’d love for you to be a part of my craziness, though! Grab a cup, have a seat, and kick off your shoes. I’m ready to chill and chat!

  • Sounds as though you might need a nap as a substitute for one of those cups of coffee!

Congrats on what sounds like it has a already been a really productive year! I’m working toward moving my blog to a self-hosting site, but I’m still deciding where and when. 🙂

    • I lost a lot of followers in the process. I wish I had started that way. I’ve gone from 10,000 views per month to less than 2000. It will get back up there, I know, but it’s a bit discouraging.

  • I had to giggle when I read this today. I totally get it. I have had to juggle my job, taking care of my mom, promoting my book and me, and being wife to my husband and a mother to my sixteen-year-old boy for several months now. I always wonder if I’m truly still sane or people are just being nice to me! But the thought that keeps coming to mine (in regards to my goals) is that God didn’t ask me to do everything at once. No, that was my idea. Instead, He just ask that I keep pushing and He will carry me the rest of the way. When I get all balled up inside about not being as fall along with things as I want to be, I just go back to: “Who’s idea was this anyway?” Straightens me out every time!

  • Wow, it sounds like you’re super busy, and I didn’t even think of the fact that the year is already 1/4 over. Wow it’s flying by fast! I’m making progress, but slower than I’d like, and I just got my site migrated to a more reliable host so woohoo! Here’s to an awesome rest of 2015 for both of us!

    • Amanda,

Are you also part of Creative Bloggers group on fb? Your blog name sounds familiar from an introduction I read this morning. 🙂

It is crazy to think the year is 1/4 over, but it is. What site host did you go with? I moved to a self-hosted wordpress site.

  • Oh..those weeks when you’re burning the candle at all SIDES… not just both ends. I know them far too well.
Hope A to Z goes well for you — I’m participating too, though I have no idea what number I am on the list… probably should look into that.

    • Alli,

Thank you for stopping by and the encouragement! Numbers will change, somewhat, as people are removed for not participating. However, you want to know where you are numerically so you can comment on the five people around you. This is a GREAT opportunity to network and make new friends. I hope to see you around next month!!!!

  • Sounds like you need some more love for yourself. That means: allow yourself to take more rest to God. More time to take shelter under His wings.

I love coffee. Especially Latte macchiato. Coffee or caramel. I drink it throughout the day, and I need to stay awake:-)

I stumble and tumble with my one and only 2015 purpose : “Trust God”. Trust God with your blog, trust God with your household, with your friends, trust Him in all.

    • Ariella,

Thank you so much for dropping in with encouragement. 🙂 This is my busiest time of year at school and every year I say something has to change, but the only change I can make is to give up coaching. I’m not sure I’m ready.

I have been drinking coffee as long as I could drink from a cup. Actually, I’ll have to blog that story some time! Thanks also for some inspiration! Nowadays I have a cappuccino that I brew at home with a shot of white chocolate in it each morning to get me up and going. Then I stick mostly to water, PowerAde, or tea.

Did you find me through StumbleUpon? I just added an account yesterday and have no idea what I’m doing. 😉

  • Your life sounds way too busy. I empathize with you because I remember the time when the same was true for me. But everything changes with time and patience. I don’t drink coffee and so have no basis for understanding how the caffeine hit can cure your frantic dash between one activity and the next. I suggest cutting back on something. Blessings.

    • Francene,

LOL. It is, and it isn’t. This is always my busiest time of year. I have actually been resigning from positions since the first of the year. So, I am less busy than normal, but with two teenagers of my own and coaching during the spring, well, life is crazy from February to the first day of summer break!

I just like coffee! The smell, the taste, and perhaps the caffeine in the morning gets me going, but I actually think it’s just the warmth of the beverage.

Thanks for dropping in this morning! 🙂

  • Ok so you just made me realize my internal calendar is way off! 1/4 of the year gone already? Say it ain’t so!
In my world, I am just winding up for another working season and have not even called back the entire crew.
A fresh new season, yet 1/4 of the way to next Christmas?! Ugh.. I think I need more coffee to wrap my head around it all.
Thanks for the coffee, and get some rest in that busy schedule so you don’t burn out!

    • I’m glad you enjoyed the coffee, but I’m sorry I readjusted your internal calendar. This was my way of reminding myself that one week quickly turns into one quarter of the year.

I can’t make excuses if I want 2015 to have different results!

Thank you so much for dropping in to share coffee and conversation. Please stop in again!

  • You had me at the 4 cappuccinos comment! I can so relate! Love to hear your momentum. Take some time to rest when you can (are you laughing as you read that). Don’t burn out. 🙂 Celebrate the amazing things you have done recently….awesome!

    • Bonnie,

Thank you so much for dropping in to sip some cappuccino(S) with me! 😀 I will have time and rest again in May. The middle of May. The end at the latest.

Awww. Thanks for the encouragement and for celebrating with me. No one understands this thing I do, so it’s hard to share my excitement. I’m glad my blogging buddies get it!!!!

  • I could not find the A-Z but this post with caffeine attracted me… must need another cup
